this was me — a little kid standing proudly next to my father in his jewelry store, already thinking I was part of the business.
My father is a fourth-generation jeweler, and without even realizing it at the time, I was becoming the fifth.
I would follow him everywhere, trying to help with anything I could. I watched how he spoke to customers, how he carried himself, and how he built trust with nothing but honesty and a genuine smile. I didn’t understand it back then, but in those quiet moments behind the counter, he was shaping the man I would one day become.
But what I remember most wasn’t just the work — it was everything in between. The fresh carrot juice, the ice cream, the delicious sandwiches… the small rewards that felt like the greatest gifts in the world. The laughter, the simplicity, and just being by his side made those days unforgettable.
Looking back now, 30 years feels like it passed in the blink of an eye. But the lessons, the love, and those moments with my father… they never left me.
They live on in everything I do today.
